The 18th-century Keraton Kasunanan was the royal family’s residence and today is a museum of heirlooms. Surakarta is also a major center for dyed batik fabric.
Begin your journey at Yogyakarta Train station. Take the LRT for a 1-hour ride to Surakarta. Continue your journey with a traditional rickshaw, or other public transport if you don't fit with the sunny hot weather.
Your first destination will be the Palace of Surakarta. Then, continue to explore Surakarta's most iconic food in the traditional market. Since Surakarta is major for dyed batik, you can also visit a local market with batik specialty.
