Begin your day outside the National Theatre in central San José, where you’ll meet your certified local guide and board a comfortable private minibus. Travel into Costa Rica’s highlands while learning about the landscapes and communities along the route.
At Irazú Volcano National Park, walk through the dramatic high-altitude scenery as your guide explains the volcano’s craters, geology, elevation, and unique ecosystem. The route then descends to Cartago, Costa Rica’s former colonial capital. Explore its history, architecture, faith, and everyday life while passing the Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels.
Pause at a local restaurant for an included lunch before continuing into the Orosí Valley. Walk through the village of Orosí and visit one of Costa Rica’s oldest colonial churches while discovering the area’s coffee culture and local traditions.
Finish with a relaxing drive back to the National Theatre in San José. With no more than 10 travelers, the tour offers a personal pace, comfortable transportation, and plenty of opportunities to ask questions throughout the day.

Bring a jacket, closed-toe shoes, water, sunscreen, and your own raincoat, poncho, or umbrella. Rain gear is not provided. Lunch and the national park entrance ticket are included; additional food and drinks are at your own expense
Meet outside the National Theatre in central San José. Please arrive 15 minutes before the 7:00 AM departure and look for your Eco City Tours guide.
