Ulaanbaatar: 7-Day Gobi Desert & Terelj Park Tour

Day 1: Ulaanbaatar to White Stupa

Begin your adventure with an early morning departure from Ulaanbaatar. Drive through the Middle Gobi steppe landscape, arriving at the White Stupa cliffs, famous for their dramatic limestone formations. Enjoy a short hike and capture stunning photos at sunset. Spend the night in a ger camp near the White Stupa.

Day 2: Yol Valley (Gurvan Saikhan National Park)

Drive south to the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan Mountains. Walk through Yol Valley, a deep canyon known for its ice that can remain even in summer. Visit the small natural history museum at the entrance. Keep an eye out for wildlife like lammergeier vultures and ibex. Overnight in a ger camp near Dalanzadgad.

Day 3: Khongor Sand Dunes

Travel to the largest sand dunes in Mongolia, also called the “Singing Dunes.” Visit a camel-breeding nomadic family and ride Bactrian camels along the dunes. Climb the dunes for breathtaking sunset views. Spend the night in a ger camp near the dunes.

Day 4: Bayanzag (Flaming Cliffs)

Drive to the famous Flaming Cliffs, where the first dinosaur eggs were discovered by Roy Chapman Andrews. Explore the red sandstone formations and take short hikes among the saxaul forest. Capture the stunning landscape with sunset photography. Overnight in a ger camp.

Day 5: Return toward Central Mongolia

Embark on a long scenic drive north toward central Mongolia. Stop at Baga Gazriin Chuluu and walk among the unusual granite rock formations. Spend the night in a local ger camp or tourist camp.

Day 6: Terelj National Park

Drive toward the green forested mountains of Terelj. Visit the famous Turtle Rock and hike to the Aryabal Meditation Temple. Enjoy hiking, horse riding with a nomadic family, and the beautiful forest scenery. Overnight in a ger camp in Terelj.

Day 7: Return to Ulaanbaatar

Enjoy a relaxed morning in Terelj with optional horse riding or a short nature walk. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar, concluding your adventure.
