Join a whale safari from Alta with a local company and explore the beautiful Altafjord and its wildlife. This is a soft Arctic adventure where you can experience whales and nature at a comfortable pace, guided by a local captain who knows the fjord well.

Between November and January, herring arrive in the fjord, followed by orcas and humpback whales. You’ll travel on Sea Runner, a small and comfortable boat with heated indoor seating and a toilet. The boat is built for warmth and comfort while keeping you close to the sea and nature.

Take in the fresh air, the quiet fjord, and the snow-covered mountains. You can stay warm inside or step out on deck to enjoy the view and the feeling of being close to the sea.

Our captain will do their best to find whales and other marine life. Since the animals are wild, sightings can’t be guaranteed, but every trip offers a good chance to see them and enjoy the Arctic scenery.

Life jackets are available for those who prefer them, and there are sturdy railings on board. When the boat moves at higher speed, guests should stay indoors, but there will be several calm moments to step outside and take in the surroundings.

Please dress warmly and wear layers suited to the weather. You can bring a backpack and a camera if you’d like.

The tour is suitable for all ages, including small children, but guests should be able to walk a few steps on their own.
