Explore São Miguel with an unforgettable guided tour: volcanic lakes of stunning colors, viewpoints with breathtaking views, and the vast greenery that covers the island.
Start your guided tour in Ponta Delgada, the capital of São Miguel Island, then head west to begin the Main Journey.
Your first stop is the Pico do Carvão viewpoint, where you can enjoy sweeping views of the island's north coast, including Ribeira Grande, and the south coast, with Ponta Delgada in the distance. You'll then head to the Vista do Rei viewpoint, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view over the Lagoa das Sete Cidades, with its two lagoons.
Next, you'll pass by the ruins of the Monte Palace Hotel, the first five-star hotel in the Azores, which opened in 1989. Then, you'll head down the hydrangea road to the Sete Cidades area for a closer look at the lagoon.
Then, you'll head east towards Lagoa do Fogo, a volcanic lake in a protected nature reserve.
You'll have lunch at a local restaurant, where you'll enjoy traditional Azorean cuisine.
In the afternoon, you'll head to the Santa Iria viewpoint, known for its sweeping coastal landscapes.
From there, you'll visit the Gorreana Tea Factory, where you can taste locally produced tea and stroll through the plantation.
Next, you'll head to the Pico do Ferro viewpoint, which offers a breathtaking view of the Furnas Valley and its volcanic lagoon.
In Furnas, you'll pass through the Caldeiras, an area with active geothermal features, including hot springs and fumaroles. We'll also visit the Lagoa das Furnas.
You'll end the day by heading back to Ponta Delgada, wrapping up a memorable journey through the island's most iconic scenery.
