Meet your bilingual guide at a convenient meeting point and head to the stadium neighborhood. Enjoy the pre-match party with the local fans, known as the "previa." Fans throng the streets and local bars and cafes, enjoying a drink or bite to eat before going in to the stadium, everyone wearing the club colours.
The diehard fans will create the atmosphere, leading songs and chants, playing drums and trumpets and generally jumping around the place with their flags and banners. Be ready to get involved - fútbol is a participatory experience in Argentina, the fans are considered part of the team, not just spectators!
During the "previa" your local expert host will explain in everything you need to know - all about the league, teams, and stadiums; safety concerns, general dos and don'ts; and detailed entry instructions - there is a lot of security and police control around stadiums so you need to be prepared for what's coming.
Head into the stadium early as there is usually no assigned seating, depending on the club. The party continues in the stands and large banners are revealed in the terraces with the hardcore fans bouncing on the railings for the full 90 minutes. The teams enter the pitch to a cacophony of noise and coloured smoke bombs and fireworks - "today we win", there is no option.
Your guide will continue to explain unique cultural intricacies during the game while you enjoy the beautiful charm and character of these old stadiums. Afterward, take photos and then head home - your host will make sure everyone is safe and on the way back to their accommodation safely.
We go to all Buenos Aires clubs: Boca Juniors at the Bombonera, River Plate at the Monumental, Racing, Independiente, San Lorenzo, Huracán and many many more. We can organise trips further afield too to La Plata, Rosario, Mendoza and Montevideo.
