Impression Liu Sanjie is one of China's most iconic outdoor performances, directed by internationally renowned filmmaker Zhang Yimou together with Wang Chaoge and Fan Yue. Unlike a traditional theater performance, the show takes place entirely outdoors against the spectacular karst mountains of Guilin. More than 600 local performers appear on the river, using bamboo rafts, fishing lights, traditional costumes, and folk music to bring the culture of the Li River to life.
