Discover some of Albania's history and culture on a half-day guided trip to Delvina from Saranda. Visit and learn about the historical Gjin Aleksi Mosque and the Islamic Complex of Xhermehalla.
Leaving at 9 am from Saranda in a comfort minivan you will soon arrive in the Delvina area. Here still lies the strong presence of Ottomans buildings. Back in the 1500s, so many churches have been destroyed to make space for new ones or to be converted into mosques. This occurred with the Gjin Aleksi mosque, which was built in the ruins of a previous church.
It is considered a Cultural Monument of Albania, as is the Islamic Complex of Xhermehalla.
The Islamic Complex, located in Delvinë, was built in 1682. At the Complex you will find the King Mosque built at the end of the 15th century, a Hammam, built at the beginning of the 16th century, and the mezzanine of the complex, built in the 17th century.
