Samobor: Town and Castle Walking Tour

Our tour covers all of the main attractions in Samobor, and it is a great way for people to get acquainted with this lovely town, all in concise presentation, which will surely make you come back.
Samobor, also known as “The Venice of Croatia” (because of the river running through its center), has attracted local people for centuries: beautiful architecture, accompanied by nature parks, forests and vineyards, historical buildings (Old Town Castle, churches, museums) and unforgettable stories.

Our exploration of Samobor’s history and tradition begins at the main square (by the water well), where you will start to get acquainted with your guide and the town itself.

We will continue up to the St. Anastasia Church and its cemetery, to enjoy the story of St. Anastasia herself, as well as the story of love, tragedy and “Croatian Romeo and Juliet”. Cemetery also hold a monument to the tragic and important period of recent Croatian history - The Croatian Independence War.

Afterwards we’ll stroll to the beautiful Vugrinščak Park, where we’ll visit the Samobor Museum, and, while admiring the castle model, tell the story of the Samobor Old Town Castle, which is our next station.

The Castle serves not only as a living testament of the medieval European history, but it’s a magnificent place, mostly untouched, from which you can marvel at the breathtaking view of Samobor, Zagreb, and surrounding hills and mountains. It’s about a 20-minute walk through the forest to the Castle, and it will really make your visit memorable and unique.

You’ll have time to explore the castle and the surroundings, as well as take amazing photos. After a brief climb down, we’ll head back to the meeting point, all while discovering what else makes Samobor so very special.
