3-Day Tour with Horse Trekking in Terelj National Park

Day-1 Terelj National Park
The tour starts Zaisan Hill Monument
Located in southern Ulaanbaatar, the Zaisan Memorial features the Mongolian Soyombo and Soviet Hammer and Sickle symbols, honoring Soviet soldiers. A scenic staircase and paved road lead visitors up the hill to the main monument, offering panoramic views of the city.

Chinggis Khaan Statue
The 40-meter-tall Chinggis Khaan Equestrian Statue, the world’s largest, located at Tsonjin Boldog. Made of stainless steel, it depicts Chinggis Khaan holding a golden whip and is surrounded by a cultural complex with panoramic views and a museum.

Terelj National Park
Gorkhi–Terelj National Park, located 60 km southeast of Ulaanbaatar is the closest national park to the city. Highlights include Turtle Rock and the Aryabal Meditation Temple, set among scenic granite mountains, forests, and unique rock formations.

Day-2 Horse Trekking to Gunjiin Sum
Gunjiin Sum (Temple of the Princess) is located in the Baruunbuyan area of Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. The temple was built in 1740 by Mongolian nobleman Dondovdorj in memory of his Manchu princess wife.
According to legend, after the princess passed away, a temple and marble monument were built in her honor, and around 200 lamas served there. Over time the temple became a pilgrimage site. Unlike many monasteries destroyed during the Soviet purges, Gunjiin Sum survived but later fell into ruins due to neglect. Today visitors can see the remains of the main temple walls and explore the peaceful forest surroundings, making it a pleasant hiking stop inside the park.

Day-3 Return to Terelj National Park and drive back to Ulaanbaatar
Today we return to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park and enjoy a short horse-trekking experience through the beautiful valleys and forested mountains of the park. After the ride, we continue our journey by car and drive back to Ulaanbaatar, arriving in the city later in the day.
