From Arequipa: Tour of the salt flats and Aguada Blanca

Explore the stunning landscapes of the Salinas salt lake on a full-day excursion from Arequipa. Discover the history and culture of the region with your guide.
We’ll pick you up from your hotel at 6.00 am to begin our journey to Chiguata. After about an hour’s drive, we’ll arrive at a viewpoint where we’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu volcanoes. We’ll also have time to enjoy breakfast before continuing our adventure.

We’ll head to the nature reserve, where we’ll be able to spot llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and, depending on the season, flamingos. We’ll then arrive at the Salinas salt flat, a spectacular landscape where volcanoes, flora and fauna come together. During the rainy season, between January and May, the water creates incredible reflections that are perfect for photographs. In the dry season, the salt flat takes on its characteristic white hue, offering a completely different landscape.

We’ll also visit the Lojen mini-volcanoes, where you’ll have the option to take a dip in the natural hot spring pools, situated at around 4,000 metres above sea level.

Finally, we’ll return to Chiguata to enjoy a traditional lunch featuring local specialities such as stuffed rocoto and fried guinea pig. We’ll then set off back to Arequipa, arriving at around 5.00 pm.
