Ascent to the Peak of the Hornopirén Volcano, Northern Patagonia

A challenging adventure inside the Hornopirén National Park, among a native forest of ancient larch trees with panoramic views of the Cholgo Canal and the Andes Range.
From your accommodation in Puerto Varas, we head towards the town of Hornopirén along the Carretera Austral, crossing the Reloncaví Estuary by ferry.
Upon reaching Hornopirén, we'll take the route that goes to the base of the volcano. At the starting point, we begin our hike with a tough ascent of approximately 5 hours, walking through a dense forest of ancient larches, coigue, mañio, lenga, and many other species of our native forest. As we approach the peak, we begin to see panoramic views of the Cholgo Canal and the Andes Mountains.
Upon reaching the summit at 1,572 meters above sea level, you can see the basin of Lake Cabrera, the Yates Volcano and the Apagado Volcano. We'll take a break to enjoy the scenery and tranquility, take pictures, and eat our packed lunch.
We will begin our descent along the same route until we reach the starting point, and finally we will head back to Puerto Varas, crossing the Reloncaví Estuary again by ferry.
