Explore Manu for 5 days, navigating Amazonian rivers and rainforest trails. Spot macaws, giant otters, monkeys and caimans, with chances to see tapirs and jaguars.
Start your 5-day adventure from Cusco and travel deep into the Amazon rainforest of Manu National Park. Your journey begins at approximately 5:45 a.m. with a private transfer from your hotel.

Day 1: Cusco – Ninamarca – Paucartambo – Cloud Forest – Pilcopata
Travel through the Andes to Ninamarca, where you will visit ancient pre-Inca funerary chullpas. Continue to Paucartambo and then cross Abra Acjanaco, the gateway to Manu National Park. Descend through the lush Cloud Forest, where you can spot colorful birds, monkeys, orchids and ferns. In the afternoon, arrive at Pilcopata and spend the night at Pona Lodge.

Day 2: Pilcopata – Atalaya – Manu River – Cocha Otorongo
Leave early at approximately 3:30 a.m. and travel to Puerto Atalaya. From there, board a boat for a scenic journey along the Manu River. Look for monkeys, caimans, turtles, capybaras and birds, with opportunities to search for jaguars along the riverbanks. Visit Cocha Otorongo and climb its observation tower to look for giant otters and black caimans. Spend the night at Casa Matsiguenka Lodge.

Day 3: Cocha Salvador – Macaw Clay Lick – Rainforest Trails
Explore Cocha Salvador by catamaran and look for giant otters, caimans, monkeys and a variety of birds. Later, visit a macaw clay lick and observe colorful macaws gathering to feed on the mineral-rich clay. In the afternoon, walk through rainforest trails with a naturalist guide, followed by a night walk to search for nocturnal wildlife.

Day 4: Manu Reserved Area – Tapir Clay Lick
Enjoy an early morning nature walk or a final visit to the lake before continuing by boat along the Manu River. In the afternoon, visit a tapir clay lick, where you may observe these elusive mammals. Spend the night at Papaya Eco Lodge in the heart of the rainforest.

Day 5: Papaya Eco Lodge – Cusco
After breakfast, begin your return journey from the Amazon to Cusco. Enjoy the changing landscapes along the route and arrive in Cusco between approximately 4:00 and 6:00 p.m., where the tour ends.

Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed and the itinerary may be adjusted according to weather, river conditions and recent wildlife reports from local naturalist guides.
