Descrição
Step into Karen culture on this 3-day jungle trek through private lands in Doi Inthanon. Hike, swim, cook by fire, and connect with local families in mountain villages.
On this 3-day, 2-night adventure through the heart of Doi Inthanon, you won’t just trek—you’ll live, eat, and share stories with Karen hill tribe families in villages that are part of their ancestral land. Run entirely by a local Karen family, this experience goes far beyond sightseeing. It’s personal, peaceful, and refreshingly off-grid.
All trails, campsites, and waterfalls are 100% community-owned, offering rare access to land that most travelers never reach. From swimming under jungle falls to learning plant uses passed down through generations, every step reveals something new.
Day 1: Forest Paths & Firelight
Begin with a pickup from Chiang Mai. After a quick stop at a lively local market, drive to a mountain village owned by your host family.
From there, the trek begins. Walk along private farmland and through dense forest trails, passing bamboo groves and rice paddies. Along the way, your guide explains the uses of native plants and shares tales of Karen traditions.
After a jungle lunch by a waterfall (wrapped in banana leaves), continue hiking to your forest camp—nestled near a remote waterfall. Help your guide cook dinner with hand-picked herbs, then relax by the campfire under a sky scattered with stars.
Day 2: Villages & Tribal Culture
After a simple breakfast, set off through wildlife-rich forest known to shelter gibbons, macaques, and Asiatic black bears. Hike 3 hours to a Karen village where you stop for lunch and cultural exchange.
In the afternoon, trek deeper into the hills (about 4 hours) to reach a second village. This overnight stay is a full cultural immersion: learn about traditional clothing, cooking techniques, and daily life with your hosts, who may include the guide’s own parents or siblings.
Another village, another fireside evening—perfect for sharing stories and soaking in the moment.
Day 3: Waterfalls & Farewell
The final day features some of the region’s most beautiful scenery. Trek for 6–7 hours across gentle farmland and rugged paths, passing through cloud forest and local farms.
The highlight? Visiting up to five natural waterfalls along the route—all suitable for swimming. Relax, explore, and enjoy a peaceful final meal by the water, before being picked up for your return to Chiang Mai.
