From Salta: Full-Day Excursion to Salinas Grandes and Purmamarca

Discover one of the most breathtaking landscapes in northern Argentina on an excursion to the stunning Salinas Grandes, the vast salt flat located between the provinces of Salta and Jujuy. Throughout the tour, we'll pass through some of the most spectacular scenery in the region, combining mountains, traditional villages, high-altitude roads, and vast white landscapes that will make for unforgettable photos.

We'll depart from Salta city and head to Jujuy Province, where we'll begin to discover part of the iconic Quebrada de Humahuaca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the journey, we'll pass through picturesque towns such as Yala, Volcán, and Tumbaya, following the course of the Río Grande and enjoying the natural contrasts that characterize this region.

Our first major stop will be Purmamarca, a charming village with traditional streets and adobe buildings, famous for the majestic Hill of Seven Colors. There, you can admire its natural hues, explore its picturesque spots, and learn about some of the culture and traditions of the Quebrada.

We'll continue our adventure along the spectacular Cuesta de Lipán, a mountain route that climbs through hairpin bends to an altitude of approximately 4,170 meters above sea level. During the ascent, we'll enjoy extraordinary views of the mountain range, high-altitude landscapes, and the flora and fauna typical of the Puna.

Upon arriving at Salinas Grandes, we'll see a vast expanse of white salt that contrasts with the deep blue of the sky. You'll have time to walk around, take in the vastness of the salt flat, and snap unique photos, making the most of the perspectives and visual effects that make this place one of the most photographed destinations in northern Argentina.

We'll then head back to Purmamarca, where you'll have some free time for lunch and to savor the regional cuisine, with specialties that include dishes made with llama meat, as well as other typical local offerings.

Finally, we'll head back to the city of Salta, taking with us the memories of a day filled with extraordinary landscapes, culture, and nature.

Throughout the excursion, we'll make strategic stops to walk, enjoy the views, and take pictures, so you can experience each place at your own pace and make the most of this tour of Jujuy's most iconic landscapes.
