Embark on a day trip from Santander to discover some of Cantabria's most enchanting landscapes and villages.
Your first stop will be in Mogrovejo, one of the most picturesque villages in the region. Accompanied by a guide, you will learn about its history, its traditional architecture, and iconic sites such as the Mogrovejo Tower and the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption. You will also learn about its connection to the history of the Battle of Covadonga and its privileged location within the Picos de Europa National Park. Its idyllic landscapes, reminiscent of the Swiss Alps, made it the setting for the movie “Heidi.” After the visit, you will have some free time to stroll around and enjoy the surroundings.
The tour continues to the Monastery of Saint Toribio de Liébana, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Spain. Here, you can learn about its history and religious significance in a unique natural setting, as well as visit the interior of the monastery.
Next, you will arrive in Potes, considered one of the nicest villages in Cantabria. After a guided tour of its historic center, with its bridges, cobblestone streets, and the Torre del Infantado, you will have some free time so that you can have lunch and enjoy the local atmosphere and gastronomy.
In the afternoon, the tour heads to the coast to visit San Vicente de la Barquera. Here, you can stroll through this seaside town, take in the views of the sea and the Picos de Europa mountains, and relax before returning to Santander.
