Your experience is guided by Jorge, who placed 6th in Costa Rica’s National Barista Championship. Learn directly from a nationally recognized local barista as you explore what makes Costa Rican specialty coffee unique and discover how origin, variety, processing, grinding, and brewing can transform what you taste in the cup.
Throughout the experience, four different brewing methods will be prepared for the group. Taste and compare the coffees as you explore their aromas, flavors, acidity, sweetness, body, and other sensory characteristics. Discover how different brewing techniques influence extraction and bring out different qualities in each coffee.
The small-group format, limited to just six participants, creates a relaxed and personal setting where you can interact directly with the barista, ask questions, and deepen your understanding of coffee, regardless of your previous coffee knowledge.
Rather than a traditional coffee plantation tour, this experience lets you discover Costa Rican coffee from the barista’s perspective, with a focus on brewing, tasting, and the sensory side of specialty coffee.
After the experience, you’re welcome to stay at Legendario and enjoy breakfast, lunch, pastries, additional drinks, or other products available from the café’s regular menu at your own expense.

VIKTIG INFORMATION
This experience includes the tasting of four Costa Rican specialty coffees with different processing methods. Coffee preparations are served in tasting portions and shared among participants. Please let us know in advance about any food allergies or dietary restrictions. Food and additional beverages are not included but can be purchased directly from the café. The experience involves hot water and coffee-brewing equipment, so participants should follow the instructor’s safety guidance at all times.
The meeting point is Legendario Coffee in Salitral de Santa Ana. For the easiest route, we recommend using Waze, which works particularly well in Costa Rica. First navigate toward the church in Salitral, then search for “Legendario Coffee” in Waze and follow the directions directly to the café.
Most of the road to the café is paved. There is a short unpaved section of approximately 150 meters, but it is flat and easily accessible with a regular car — no 4x4 is required. The area is hilly and you will encounter some steep paved sections, so simply drive slowly and carefully.
Once you arrive, you will see the entrance and parking area. Park there and walk up the stairs to the coffee shop, where your instructor will be waiting for you. If you have any difficulty finding the location or have questions on the way, please call us and we’ll be happy to assist you.
