Uganda: 4-Day Wildlife, Rhinos and Chimpanzee Safari

Embark on a 4-day safari from Kampala or Entebbe. Track rhinos at Ziwa, witness Murchison Falls, cruise the Nile, and trek chimpanzees in Budongo Forest.
Day 1: Kampala/Entebbe to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and Murchison Falls

Begin your adventure with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. Drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where you’ll engage in a guided rhino tracking experience on foot. Get up close to Uganda’s only wild rhinos.

Continue to Masindi for lunch at a local restaurant. Then, proceed to Murchison Falls National Park, entering through the Kichumbanyobo Gate. Stop at the Top of Murchison Falls for a breathtaking view of the Nile squeezing through a narrow gorge. Head to the lodge for the night.

Day 2: Murchison Falls National Park

Start your day with an early morning game drive on the northern bank of the park. Look out for lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, warthogs, hyenas, and various antelope species. Return to the lodge for a late breakfast or early lunch.

In the afternoon, take a scenic boat cruise along the Victoria Nile to the base of Murchison Falls. Spot hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and abundant birdlife, including the iconic shoebill (seasonal).

Day 3: Murchison Falls to Budongo Forest

Enjoy an optional morning boat cruise to the Nile Delta (a birder’s paradise) or a short game drive depending on lodge location and guest preference. After breakfast, check out and drive to Budongo Forest in the southern sector of Murchison.

Check in at Budongo Eco Lodge or similar near Kaniyo Pabidi Forest. Have lunch and relax at the lodge. In the afternoon, take an optional guided forest walk or nature trail.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking in Budongo Forest

Have an early breakfast and head to the Budongo Forest visitor center for a chimpanzee tracking briefing. Enter the forest with guides to search for wild chimpanzees and observe them in their natural habitat (1-hour viewing once located).

Return to the lodge for refreshment and check-out. Begin your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe, with a stopover for lunch en route. Arrive at your hotel or the airport in the evening.
