Explore Bucegi Natural Park, a protected area of national interest. The park spans the southern part of Brașov County, the northern part of Dâmbovița County, and the northwestern part of Prahova County, in the immediate vicinity of the DN1 national road connecting the country's capital to the city of Brașov.
Bucegi Natural Park was established alongside the promotion and development of tourism as a measure to prevent the irrational exploitation of natural resources and the destruction of biodiversity. The Bucegi Mountains (featuring natural elements of physical-geographic, floristic, hydrological, geological, and speleological value) constitute a mountain area with diverse flora and fauna, represented at both the species and terrestrial ecosystem levels.
Drive along the Transbucegi Road (also known as Drumul Babelor or DJ713), a spectacular mountain route in the Bucegi Mountains. It connects to the DN71 (via Sinaia / Cuibul Dorului Chalet / Dichiu Saddle or Dichiu Chalet) and ascends the Bucegi Plateau to a point near Piatra Arsă Chalet (at an altitude of 1,925 m). It covers a total distance of approximately 20 km, of which about 17 km are paved.
Continue to the Babele rock formations, the Sphinx, and the Caraiman Cross. Then, head to Bolboci Lake, Ialomița Cave, and the Padina area (accessible by continuing along the DJ714 road).
