What to Wear: Pack comfortable walking shoes/sandals for the Materuni hike (it can be muddy/slippery) and swimwear for both the Materuni Waterfall and Chemka Hot Springs.
What to Bring: Sunscreen, a hat, insect repellent, a towel, and enough cash for the optional Maasai Boma fee and tipping.
Materuni Hike: The walk to the waterfall is moderate and takes about 45 minutes to an hour each way. Be prepared for uneven terrain
Swimming: Swimming is possible at both the waterfall (cold!) and the hot springs (warm). The hot springs water is deep, but life jackets are sometimes available to rent locally
Maasai Tour: This is optional and costs extra. It is a brief, cultural introduction in Boma Ng'ombe, not a mandatory full-day experience. Inform your guide if you wish to join.
Hydration: Always drink bottled water provided by your guide.
Tipping: Tipping the local coffee guide, village guide, and your driver/main guide is customary in Tanzania and highly appreciated for excellent service.
