Saeva Dupka Cave is considered one of the most beautiful caves in Bulgaria. The largest stalactite inside has a circumference of 60 meters. The average temperature in the cave is between 7–11°C, while the humidity ranges from 90% to 98%. It is located at an altitude of 520 meters above sea level. The cave is 205 meters long, and an underground river flows 70 meters below the surface. It is believed to be around 3 million years old.
Saeva Dupka Cave
Prohodna Cave is a cave corridor — a magnificent natural rock bridge oriented from east to west. It was formed at the end of the Cretaceous period around 66–68 million years ago. In the past, the waters of the Iskar River filled the cave, but today the river flows below its level. Due to active karst processes, seismic activity, and the river’s erosion over time, the cave corridor was split, leaving this section separated.
Prohodna Cave
The Zlatna Panega River originates from Bulgaria’s largest karst spring, Glava Panega (4,000 l/s), located in the southeastern part of the village of Zlatna Panega at 188 meters above sea level. The river flows northward, forming a picturesque gorge before reaching the town of Lukovit.
