Start your one-day cultural journey from Hangzhou between 08:00 and 08:30,

From 08:30 to 10:30, enjoy the drive through the countryside while your tour leader introduces the story of old Chun’an, the creation of Qiandao Lake, and the villages that were relocated when the reservoir was built.

At 10:30, arrive at Chun’an Museum and begin a guided visit through the history, archaeology, migration, and intangible-heritage sections. From 10:30 to 11:30, learn about Chun’an from the Neolithic period through the Ming and Qing dynasties, explore displays related to the underwater ancient cities of Shicheng and Hecheng, and understand how 290,000 local residents moved away in 1959 during the construction of the hydroelectric reservoir. Continue into the folk-culture area to discover local traditions such as Chun’an opera, bamboo-horse dance, and festival customs.

At 11:30, depart for Lishang Township, a mountain village known as the hometown of historical scholar-official Shang Lu and the family roots of Empress Yang Guizhi of the Southern Song dynasty. From 11:30 to 12:10, drive to Lishang while enjoying rural Chun’an scenery along the way.
From 12:10 to 13:20, walk along Lishang Daqian Old Street and enjoy free time for lunch. Recommended local options include Lishang Eight Bowls or farmhouse-style Chun’an dishes.

From 13:20 to 14:00, explore the old street and nearby preserved Ming- and Qing-style buildings, taking in the quiet village atmosphere and traditional local architecture.

At 14:00, begin the Lishang Ren Lantern cultural experience. First visit the Shang Lu exhibition area to learn about the only Ming-dynasty scholar who achieved first place in all three imperial examinations, and hear how Lishang Ren Lanterns developed from a court tribute into a folk blessing tradition with more than 500 years of history.

From 14:30 to 16:30, join a hands-on workshop to make your own Lishang Ren Lantern using the traditional pin-pricking technique. Follow the instructor step by step to shape, decorate, and complete a small blessing lantern, turning local history into a personal souvenir to take home.

From 16:30 to 17:00, finish the craft, take photos, and prepare for departure. At 17:00, return by car.
