Experience the traditional Chinese craftsmanship of mother-of-pearl inlay in the cultural heart of Guangzhou’s Yongqingfang. This 1.5–2 hour hands-on DIY experience introduces one of China’s most refined decorative arts, with a history dating back to the Western Zhou period and flourishing through the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties.

You will explore the beauty of natural shell materials, including abalone and mother-of-pearl, known for their iridescent colors and luminous surface that changes under light.

Participants will design and create their own accessory, choosing from earrings, pendants, bracelets, or brooches. You will learn step-by-step techniques including selecting shell pieces, arranging patterns, applying adhesive onto the base, embedding shell fragments, and sealing the surface with UV resin for a polished finish.

Each piece is unique, reflecting the natural color variations and textures of the shells, making every creation a personal artistic expression.

This workshop is beginner-friendly and guided throughout, requiring no prior experience in jewelry making.
