Day 1 – Scenic Highlands Drive, Village Encounters & Sunset Above the Crater

Leave Addis early and travel west through rolling farmlands and eucalyptus forests. Along the way, stop at highland viewpoints for photography and fresh air.
Upon arrival at Wonchi, settle into your lodge and join your guide for an easy walk through nearby villages. Learn about daily farming traditions, traditional cooking, and local grazing practices. Continue to a dramatic lookout point along the crater rim for a sweeping view of the caldera. Enjoy a quiet sunset surrounded by the cool highland breeze.

Day 2 – Crater Descent, Hot Springs & Island Monastery by Boat

Begin the day with a guided descent into the crater. Walk through dense forest, volcanic rock formations, and terraced fields cultivated by local communities.
At the lake shore, board a traditional wooden boat and glide across the emerald water to visit an island monastery known for its peaceful atmosphere and centuries-old heritage.
Afterward, walk or ride a mule to the natural hot springs hidden within the crater. Enjoy a rejuvenating soak or a relaxing rest beside the springs before hiking back to the rim.

In the afternoon, start the return drive to Addis with scenic stops along the way.
