Step back in time, on a visit to the Fijian village of Navala. Marvel at how the locals are still living in traditional thatched roofed houses called 'bures'. Navala village is neatly carved into the side of the mountain of Ba.
First, enjoy a 'sevusevu' welcome ceremony inside a Fijian 'bure'. The take a short guided tour around the village by your local guide, visiting the remote primary school. Get first-hand knowledge from your host about traditional ways of life.
After this, tuck into a tasty, traditional lunch. Learn about how the villagers plant their own food supplies of root crops, fruits, and vegetables. They get their seasonal supplies of wild fruits, yams and wild pigs from the jungle, bathe in cold waters of the upper source of Ba River and get refreshed with fresh air from the mountain ranges guarding the village. Return back to your hotel by 4:30 PM.
