Your main destination is the spectacular Bijagual Waterfall, one of Costa Rica’s tallest waterfalls, with an impressive drop of more than 150 meters (490 feet). Hike through a tropical rainforest trail to reach the base of the waterfall, where you will be rewarded with breathtaking views and the opportunity to swim in natural pools formed by the river.

This unique ecosystem sits between the Pacific coastline and the mountains surrounding Turrubares and Carara, creating a biodiversity hotspot rich in wildlife and tropical vegetation. Along the trail, keep your eyes open for colorful birds, scarlet macaws, butterflies, and fascinating rainforest species, including the striking green-and-black poison dart frog.

The hike covers approximately 5 km (3.1 miles) round trip and takes around 3.5 hours to complete. While the distance is moderate, the return section involves a challenging uphill climb. A good level of physical fitness is strongly recommended to fully enjoy this experience.

After your waterfall adventure, continue to the beautiful Herradura Beach, where you will have free time to relax by the ocean, enjoy the scenery, or take a refreshing swim.

For guests looking for even more adventure, there is the option to participate in a Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) experience in Herradura Bay (additional cost applies). Paddle along the calm waters near the world-class Los Sueños Marina and enjoy a different perspective of Costa Rica’s Pacific coast.
