Tromsø: Easy Winter Kayaking Tour with Seal Watching

Do you want to experience the stunning nature and mountains from a kayak with a small scale company and group, which is offering a little personal touch to the guiding? Be surprised how crystal clear the water is and how much life there is over and under water? See grey seals from a kayak, which are living in the bay this tour is taking you?

This tour is also suitable for new beginners. If you can swim, enjoy being outdoors and have adventurous mind, this tour is for you! Please notice that there are some restrictions on this tour for safety reasons, because your safety comes always first :) You must be able to swim and communicate in English (speak and understand). Due to the size of the kayaks and dry suits, participants must be 155-195 cm tall and have a body mass index (BMI) no more than 30 (I kindly ask you to respect these restrictions and not book the tour, if you do not fulfill all of them. Kayaking in arctic is an unforgettable experience. During wintertime kayaking is still possible and locals do it a lot! With right gear you will be warm and cozy inside the kayak, while enjoying white mountains and stunning polar night colors around you! The amount of participants is low for your safety and for a better possibility to experience the quiet nature and feel relaxed. This tour is real eco-friendly! Located in Håkøybotn, Kvaløya island, where you arrive together with your guide with a public buss from Tromsø city and after the tour she is guiding you back to the nearest bus stop. You can also arrive with your own car.

We are kayaking on your guides "home bay", where grey seals are spending winter time. Seals are already recognizing your guides voice and quite often when she starts to talk, seals are coming closer and sometimes even gathering around and following us the whole tour. On a tour we always respect that the bay is the home for the seals and never approach them but let them come to us if they feel like. We cannot promise 100% that we are meeting the seals, but so far we've seen them on every tour :)

Before jumping into the kayak, your guide will introduce all the needed gear for you and give you an introduction how we safely do a kayaking tour. So you do not need to have earlier kayaking experience. Kayaking is also absolutely the best activity on a rainy day! Inside the drysuit you feel cozy while listening raindrops jumping on a water surface.

After introduction we will start our tour and enjoy the magnificent nature around and under us. On a halfway on a tour, we will have a short break on land with warm drink and a snack, which are included to the tour. Kayaks we are using are steady double kayaks or single kayaks (in some cases).
