Spend 4 days and 3 nights exploring the Amazon rainforest around Puerto Maldonado through wildlife observation, river excursions, rainforest walks and adventure activities. Travel along the Madre de Dios River, explore Sandoval Lake, discover the forest after dark, walk above the treetops, try zip-lining, practice traditional fishing and paddle by kayak.

Your experience begins in Puerto Maldonado, where you will be welcomed at the airport or bus station and transferred to the local office. Continue to the port and board a boat for approximately one hour along the Madre de Dios River to the jungle lodge. Your guide will introduce you to the rainforest and explain the activities planned for your stay.

Day 1 – From Puerto Maldonado to the Rainforest

Arrive at the lodge, enjoy a welcome drink made with local fruit and settle into your room. After lunch, cross the Madre de Dios River to Monkey Island. Walk with your guide while learning about the rainforest and looking for monkeys such as capuchins and brown capuchins. After sunset, join a guided night excursion along the river. With a flashlight, search the riverbanks for caimans and other nocturnal wildlife. Depending on conditions, you may also see capybaras. Return for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 2 – Sandoval Lake and Night Walk

After breakfast, walk approximately 3 kilometers through the rainforest toward Sandoval Lake. Your guide will explain the forest and point out signs of wildlife along the trail. At the lake, board a rowing boat and explore its calm waters while observing birds, monkeys and other species. With luck, you may see giant river otters or caimans. Return to the lodge for a typical lunch and time to relax. Later, take a guided night walk to look for insects, frogs, reptiles and other nocturnal species while learning about their adaptations. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3 – Canopy, Zip-line, Fishing and Kayaking

Start early with a walk to the Canopy Walk-Way. From platforms approximately 30 meters above the ground, enjoy a different perspective of the rainforest and panoramic views of the Madre de Dios River while looking for birds such as toucans, macaws, tanagers and oropendolas. After breakfast, join a tree-top adventure with a qualified instructor, who will explain how to use the safety harness before the Zip-line experience. After lunch, try traditional fishing along the Madre de Dios River while learning about the local river environment. Later, paddle by kayak through the rainforest and enjoy the changing scenery, with the possibility of seeing the sunset from the water. Return for dinner and your final night.

Day 4 – Return to Puerto Maldonado

After breakfast, board the boat and travel back along the Madre de Dios River toward Puerto Maldonado. Continue by vehicle to the airport or bus station according to your departure schedule, ending your Amazon experience.
