From Arequipa: Sillar Route Excursion || Half Day ||

Just a few kilometres from Arequipa you will discover a city of quarries. Walk around and explore the formations and carvings that populate this stone city, a walk through the so-called White City!
Itinerary
We will pick you up at the coordinated point in Arequipa at 8:50 a.m. and head towards the Ruta del Sillar, one of the most historic roads in Peru. We will arrive at a viewpoint to appreciate a beautiful view of the volcanoes surrounding Arequipa, and then we will continue our journey.

Do you want to discover the origins of the sillar stone? The first place we will stop is the Añashuayco Quarry, where we will be able to see how the local masons work the stone and learn about the carving process. In addition, at this point we will admire the immense cliff canyon, the result of the extraction of the material for the formation of the sillar.

We will leave the Añashuayco Quarry, and about 30 minutes away we will find the Quebrada de Culebrillas. The water canyon will invite us to admire its walls up to 20 meters high, and we will enter it for a walk of about 20 minutes. Let's explore!

Our last stop on the Sillar Route will be to discover the canyon's petroglyphs, figures carved in stone whose meaning is unknown.

Finally, we will return to Arequipa at 1:00 p.m., where we will end our excursion.
