Your journey begins in front of Casa Presei Libere (the House of the Free Press), formerly known as Casa Scânteii, one of the most important symbols of communist propaganda in Romania. For more than 50 years, this imposing building dominated Bucharest’s skyline and served as a center of ideological control. Here, your guide will introduce the atmosphere of the period and explain why this landmark remains such a powerful symbol.

From here, continue to Ceaușescu’s former private residence, also known as Palatul Primăverii, located in one of Bucharest’s most elegant neighborhoods. Hidden behind the image of socialist austerity, this luxurious villa offers a fascinating glimpse into the private world of Nicolae and Elena Ceaușescu. More than a house museum, this visit reveals the contrast between the privileged lifestyle of the ruling elite and the daily hardships experienced by ordinary Romanian citizens.

An optional documentary about communism and the lives of the Ceaușescu couple can also be watched after the visit.

The experience continues with a visit to the Palace of Parliament, formerly known as the House of the People, Ceaușescu’s most ambitious architectural project and one of the largest administrative buildings in the world. Together with your guide, you will discover its sumptuous interiors, monumental halls, ceremonial staircases, and the area of the Romanian Senate, while learning about the enormous human and material cost behind its construction.

At the end of the visit, around 30 minutes will be reserved for a photo session in the exterior courtyard of the Palace of Parliament.

The tour concludes at Revolution Square, one of the most significant places in modern Romanian history. This is where Nicolae Ceaușescu delivered his final public speech in December 1989 and where the Romanian people began to reclaim their freedom. Here, your guide will point out the former headquarters of the Central Committee of the Romanian Communist Party, a building that still bears visible bullet marks, as well as other nearby landmarks tied to the Romanian Revolution.

Throughout the experience, your guide will connect each stop to the broader story of Communist Romania, helping you understand how the regime shaped Bucharest, how the leadership lived behind closed doors, and how the legacy of that period can still be seen today.
