Explore England’s largest natural lake at your own pace with a traditional row boat rental on Lake Windermere. Launching from the National Trust’s Fell Foot park at the southern end of the lake, you’ll head out onto open water with panoramic views across the fells and shoreline—an easy, unforgettable way to experience the Lake District from a new angle.

Your 12-foot rowing boat is inspired by the classic Windermere boats that have been used here since the 19th century. With space for up to 4 people, it’s ideal for a relaxed family hour on the water, a low-key romantic outing, or a fun session with friends. Dogs are welcome too, so your four-legged crew member can come along for the ride.

On arrival, the team will get you set up and help you feel confident before you push off. You’ll be provided with buoyancy aids or lifejackets (for non-swimming children). While you’re out, enjoy the freedom to row northwards, pause to take photos, and soak up the scenery—then return to Fell Foot feeling like you’ve earned that post-row café stop.

Finish back at the same launch area inside Fell Foot, with secure storage available ashore while you’re on the water.
