Next, head to Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Discover its urban fabric and townscape, which have remained virtually intact. Admire the fine buildings that reflect a blend of African, Arab, Indian, and European cultures over more than a millennium.
After walking in Stone Town, take a 20-minute boat ride to Prison Island. Learn about the prison, built in 1893, which was originally intended to house violent prisoners from the mainland and sick people.
