Be picked up in the morning from your hotel in Arusha or upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro/Arusha airports in a clean air-conditioned vehicle and drive a short distance to Materuni village. Materuni village is still an authentic tribal village home to the Chagga tribe and the last village before the Kilimanjaro National Park.

First, start with a village walk to visit Materuni waterfalls, which are around a 45-minute walk away. On the way, learn about the culture of the Chagga tribe, village life, and the surrounding flora and fauna with your guide. Admire the breathtaking views and with luck, catch sight of the summit of Kilimanjaro.

On the way, the trail can be slippery and muddy, so it is best to have good hiking shoes with grip and a raincoat. When you reach the waterfalls, marvel at cascades that are more than 80 meters (262 feet) high. After enjoying the scenery, return with your guide to Materuni village to experience a traditional Chagga lunch and opt to taste the local banana beer.

Next, participate in a coffee ceremony. Be invited to help with the grinding of the coffee, which is traditionally accompanied by Chagga songs and dances. Make your own cup of coffee using traditional ways, taste local coffee, and gain knowledge about the Tanzanian coffee industry.

Before you say goodbye, savor the coffee you made and appreciate the views of the surrounding rainforest before returning to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi.
