Experience a catching day with local fishermen and understand why Capeverdeans only eat fresh fishes! From the small grouper fish to the big Tuna, there’s always “catch of the day” at the Fish Market.
Explore the Atlantic Ocean by fishing in its blue waters around the island. Boavista is well known and visited by fishermen from many islands of Cape Verde due the variety and quantity that provides. That’s the reason as well why we do have a few kind of Sharks around, only good ones until now!!
Fishing used to be the main activity until 80’s just before we started the mass emigration to Europe after independence in 75, and still nowadays every local knows how to fishing. When locals go camping they only bring rice, vegetables and fishing rod!
Of-course sometimes the sea is very rough and it’s not possible for fishing, that’s the way nature operates but most of the days it’s good.
