Explore the north and east of Santiago Island on a shared or private group tour from Praia. Visit a banana plantation and a rum distillery, and enjoy some of the most beautiful landscapes of the island.
Start with pickup at your hotel in Praia and begin a journey to discover the natural beauty of the northern and eastern areas of Santiago Island. Travel for approximately 45 minutes and arrive at the largest banana and coconut plantation in the country. Taste some fresh coconut water taken from the coconut trees.
Continue inland until the village of Orgãos where you will learn to make cuscuz (a cake made from corn flour) and fidjós (fried banana mixed with wheat) with a local family. Next, make your way to the foot of the highest mountain on the island to visit a traditional rum distillery.
Then, head between rocks and valleys to the village of Rui Vaz at an altitude of 800 meters. Savor a meal at a mountaintop restaurant. After lunch, visit the Monte Txota Natural Park and start an easy 15-minute hike to a viewpoint. Get fantastic panoramic views of the volcano on the nearby Fogo Island.
Afterward, be returned to your hotel in Praia.
