Monteverde Hanging Bridges Guided Walk

Explore the Monteverde cloud forest on a guided walk across the hanging bridges of Selvatura Park. Learn about the forest's flora and fauna from a knowledgeable guide.
Discover the Monteverde cloud forest from a unique perspective on a guided walk across the eight hanging bridges of Selvatura Park. Accompanied by a local naturalist guide, explore the forest from the understory to the canopy while learning about one of Costa Rica’s most biodiverse ecosystems.

Your experience begins at Selvatura Park’s main reception. After a short introduction, follow a well-maintained trail through the cloud forest and cross eight hanging bridges of varying lengths and heights. The tour lasts approximately 2 to 3 hours, depending on the group’s pace, weather conditions, and wildlife activity.

Unlike a self-guided visit, this interpretive tour helps you discover details often overlooked. Your guide explains how Monteverde’s mist, humidity, elevation, and tropical climate create ideal conditions for an extraordinary variety of flora and fauna.

Along the way, observe orchids, bromeliads, mosses, ferns, lichens, and other epiphytes growing on trees. Learn how these plants absorb moisture and nutrients from rain and mist without harming their hosts. Discover the complex relationships between plants, fungi, insects, birds, and mammals that make this cloud forest a true natural laboratory.

As you move between forest floor and canopy, your guide will help you look for native wildlife. Possible sightings include hummingbirds, toucans, Emerald Toucanets, trogons, Black Guans, motmots, tanagers, Three-wattled Bellbirds, and the Resplendent Quetzal. You may also encounter coatis, agoutis, monkeys, squirrels, or sloths. Wildlife is free and sightings are not guaranteed, making each tour unique.

From the hanging bridges, enjoy panoramic views of the treetops and observe the forest’s different layers. Mist, sunlight, and changing weather constantly transform the landscape, offering unforgettable photo opportunities.

The bridges are designed for nature observation and require comfortable walking on uneven terrain, inclines, and gently moving structures.

This Selvatura Park hanging bridges tour is ideal for nature lovers, families, couples, photographers, and birdwatchers seeking an educational experience in Monteverde. Recommended: closed-toe shoes, comfortable clothing, rain jacket, insect repellent, water, and camera.

Experience Costa Rica’s cloud forest, cross all eight hanging bridges, observe wildlife, and discover Monteverde’s incredible biodiversity with a professional naturalist guide.
