Beschreibung

Thread off‑menu ridges to Ngong Ping plateau, then summit Ma On Shan (702 m) and traverse the Hunchbacks. Expect steep scrambles, huge skyline‑and‑seascape views, and an honest, all‑day effort.
Meet your guide outside the 7‑Eleven at Marina Cove, Sai Kung. After a concise route and safety brief, we depart and climb toward Tai Lam Wu—warming up quickly on steep village paths that set the tone for the day. From here the gradient stops negotiating and starts litigating. You’ll punch up to Tung Yeung Shan (533 m), opening up the first big views over Sai Kung’s islands.

Beyond here the line goes intentionally subtle—faint connectors through scrub, discreet footpaths, and sections where route choice matters. Rabbit Rock flashes by on the way to Shek Nga Pui and Buffalo Pass. This is where tourists peel off; you’re threading Hong Kong’s spine, hands occasionally on rock, moving with deliberate footwork and three points of contact on the steeper bits.

Ngong Ping is your first major payoff: a wide, under‑marketed platform with lacquered‑blue coves, Sai Kung Town below, and Pyramid Hill posing across the way. We pause briefly for photos and a snack, then the ridge tightens past Wan Kuk Shan. Shrubs brush your elbows, the path narrows, and each step becomes intentional. Ahead: Ma On Shan’s 702‑meter crown—an archetype peak that delivers a skyline front row. Expect a short, exposed but manageable scramble to the summit where we’ll budget time for photos, fuel, and a wind check.

We traverse the razor to Ngau Ngak Shan—the Hunchbacks—at 677 m, two granite knuckles punched into the sky. To the left: Sai Sha’s coves and deep blue. To the right: the ordered grid of Ma On Shan New Town. The ridge asks for focus, not heroics; your guide will space the group, coach footwork, and call micro‑breaks to keep the engine steady.

The descent is honest: steep, dusty shoots with limited built steps, occasional butt‑scoots, and light down‑climbing using roots and solid holds. A discreet connector leads toward Ma On Shan New Town and the comfort of concrete.

What you’ll do, in order:
