[Admission, Opening Hours, and Entry Rules]
Discover the thousand-year-old Nanputuo Temple, a prestigious Buddhist sanctuary nestled at the foot of the Wulao Peaks and next to Xiamen University. The site is open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM (important notice: admission ends strictly at 5:30 PM, and the routes to the back mountain of Wulao Peaks close at 4:00 PM). • By bus: You can take local lines to the Xiamen University South Gate or Nanputuo Temple stops.
[Main Features and Structure of the Temple]
Traditional Architectural Complex: Entering through the East Gate, the tour includes the Hall of the Heavenly Kings, the Great Hall of the Hall of Transcendent Wisdom (Daxiongbaodian), the imposing Hall of Great Compassion (Dabeidian) with its octagonal structure and double eaves, and the Pavilion of the Sacred Scriptures. The characteristic swallowtail roofs (Yanweiji), red walls, and colorful ceramic reliefs stand out.
The Back Mountains and the Wulao Peaks: The mountainous area hosts the huge rock carving with the word "Buddha" (Fo). Climbing to the top of the Wulao Peaks offers spectacular views of the university campus and the Xiamen Strait. (Please note that access to the mountain closes at 4:00 PM).
Liberation Pond: Located in front of the main gate, surrounded by ancient banyan trees, turtles, and koi carp.
