The Catania Chamber Orchestra specializes in reviving the Italian classical and opera tradition. Made up of orchestra professors who graduated from the most prestigious Sicilian conservatories and the most promising young people from Catania who have distinguished themselves in the main national and international opera and symphonic awards, the Catania Chamber Orchestra offers an interesting cycle of concerts for orchestral ensembles and voices in this Musical Season.
The concerts draw inspiration from the work of Catania's foremost composer, Vincenzo Bellini, and then transport the audience to the context of baroque and operatic production between the 18th and 19th centuries, the period in which the composer from Catania found himself working and from which he drew inspiration. This concert pays homage to Vincenzo Bellini and Antonio Vivaldi and his Four Seasons, taking you on an unforgettable journey through great classical music and Italian opera.
The concerts will be hosted in the prestigious and monumental Church of the Abbey of Sant'Agata, built next to the Cathedral where Maestro Bellini is buried. The Abbey of Sant'Agata, in addition to its precious, perfectly preserved interiors, is distinguished by a panoramic terrace that can be visited, accessed by an internal elevator, and from which you can enjoy a unique view of the wonderful city of Catania.
