Discover Hokkaido’s highlights on a full-day tour from Sapporo. Visit Hokkaido Shrine, Tadao Ando’s Hill of the Buddha, Otaru Canal, and Mt. Tengu.
Hokkaido Shrine|Duration: approx. 60 min
Meet your guide at Sapporo Odori Station and head to Maruyama Park, home to Hokkaido’s most important Shinto shrine. Walk through grand torii gates amid old‑growth forest. Dedicated to the deities of Hokkaido’s early pioneers, this peaceful urban sanctuary lets you experience authentic Japanese Shinto culture. Ground admission is free.

Hill of the Buddha|Duration: approx. 60 min
Discover Tadao Ando’s world‑famous architectural icon. Only the Buddha’s head peeks over the hill from afar. Cross the tranquil reflecting water garden, walk through the atmospheric 40‑meter tunnel, then come face‑to‑face with the towering 13.5‑meter outdoor Buddha statue. Stunning contrasts of concrete, sculpture and nature shift with summer lavender or winter snow.

Otaru Canal|Duration: approx. 70 min (includes self‑paid lunch break)
Explore Otaru Canal, the beloved symbol of historic Otaru Port built in 1923. Lined with restored stone warehouses and vintage gas lamps, the waterfront exudes dreamy Taisho‑era retro charm. Wander the promenade, browse souvenir and craft shops, take photos, and enjoy free time for lunch at your own expense.

Mt. Tengu Ropeway & Observation Decks|Duration: approx. 90 min
Take the ropeway up to Otaru’s highest viewpoint at 532.5 m. Enjoy breathtaking panoramas over Otaru city, Otaru Bay and Ishikari Bay. It is one of Hokkaido’s Top 3 night‑view spots and the famous filming location for Love Letter. Multiple observation decks deliver different photo‑worthy coastal outlooks. Ropeway tickets are at your own cost.
