Day 1: Mombasa or Diani Beach to Tsavo East National Park

Begin your adventure with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Mombasa or Diani Beach. As you travel inland, watch the landscape change from coastal scenery to the wild African savannah. Upon arrival at Tsavo East, one of Kenya’s largest and oldest national parks, begin your first exciting game drive.

Tsavo East is famous for its “red elephants,” colored by the park’s distinctive red soil. Keep your camera ready as you search for lions, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and a wide variety of birdlife across the vast plains, acacia woodlands, and along the Galana River.

After your game drive and lunch, continue your safari to the private Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. In the afternoon, enjoy another game drive in this exclusive conservation area, known for excellent wildlife viewing in a more compact setting.

As the sun sets, arrive at the spectacular Salt Lick Safari Lodge, one of Kenya’s most unique safari accommodations. Built on stilts overlooking a busy waterhole, the lodge offers a rare opportunity to watch animals gather to drink—often right beneath your room or from the lodge’s viewing decks. Elephants, buffalo, antelope, and other wildlife are frequently seen throughout the evening and night.

Enjoy dinner at the lodge while listening to the sounds of the African bush, followed by a peaceful overnight stay surrounded by nature.

Day 2: Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary to Mombasa or Diani Beach

On the second day, start with an early morning game drive or enjoy wildlife viewing directly from the lodge as animals are most active at sunrise. After breakfast, continue with a final game drive in the sanctuary before beginning your journey back to Mombasa or Diani.
