Day 1 – Puerto Maldonado to the Amazon Lodge

Your adventure begins with pickup at the airport or bus station in Puerto Maldonado. After a short transfer to the local office for registration, continue to the port and board a motorized boat for approximately one hour along the Madre de Dios River to your rainforest lodge. After settling into your private room and enjoying a refreshing drink made with local fruits, have lunch at the lodge.

In the afternoon, explore the surroundings of the lodge and the river by boat, taking in the scenery and learning about the Amazon rainforest from your local guide. After sunset, head out for a nighttime river excursion with a flashlight to experience the changing atmosphere of the jungle after dark. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.

Day 2 – Sandoval Lake and Night Rainforest Walk

After breakfast, set out on a guided rainforest walk of approximately 3 kilometers toward Sandoval Lake, one of the best-known natural attractions in the Tambopata area. Along the trail, learn about the plants, ecosystems, and wildlife of the Amazon while exploring the dense rainforest.

At Sandoval Lake, board a small rowing boat and explore the waterways surrounded by rainforest. Your guide will help you identify native birds and other wildlife that may be observed in their natural environment. After the excursion, return to the lodge for a traditional lunch and some time to relax.

In the evening, take a guided night walk through the rainforest. With your guide, look for nocturnal insects, amphibians, reptiles, and other creatures that become active after sunset. Return to the lodge for dinner and your second night in the Amazon.

Day 3 – Canopy Walkway and Return to Puerto Maldonado

Start early with a short walk to the Canopy Walkway, where elevated platforms approximately 30 meters above the ground offer a different perspective of the rainforest. From above the forest floor, enjoy panoramic views of the Madre de Dios River and look for birds such as toucans, macaws, tanagers, and oropendolas.

Return to the lodge for breakfast before beginning your journey back to Puerto Maldonado. After arriving in the city, receive a transfer to the airport or bus station according to your departure schedule.

This experience combines river travel, rainforest trails, Sandoval Lake, nighttime exploration, and a high-level canopy experience in one compact Amazon adventure, giving you several different ways to experience the jungle rather than simply visiting a lodge.
