Trace the vanished Uranus district, uncover Bucharest’s communist-era transformation, and join an official guided visit inside the Palace of Parliament.
Uncover a lesser-known side of Bucharest on a guided walk through the former Uranus neighbourhood. Once filled with historic streets, traditional homes, religious landmarks, and local communities, this area was dramatically reshaped during the communist era.
Follow your guide through the story of the district’s demolition and the creation of the Civic Centre. Historical photographs, local stories, and clear explanations reveal the scale of the urban redevelopment and the lives affected by it. Learn about the architectural vision that transformed this part of the city and left a lasting mark on Bucharest’s landscape.
Discover the history of Mihai Vodă Church and how it was relocated during the redevelopment. Continue to Constitution Square and the Civic Centre to explore the monumental setting created around the Palace of Parliament.
Finish with an official guided interior visit of the Palace of Parliament, subject to advance confirmation and availability. Explore its monumental architecture while learning about its construction, historical context, and place in Romania’s recent past.
If the visit to the Palace of Parliament cannot take place due to circumstances related to the building or the institution, such as unexpected closures, official restrictions, or other operational issues beyond the participant’s control, a full refund will be provided for the affected booking.
