Full Day Salinas Grandes + Tren Solar (Maimara/Purmamarca)

Explore a stunning desert of salt and discover the colonial charms and breathtaking landscapes of Jujuy Province on a day trip to the Salinas Grandes from Salta. Moreoverthe magnificent “Tren Solar” .
We leave the Province of Salta to enter the neighboring province of Jujuy. We begin our ascent on Route 9, passing through the towns of Volcán (2,070 meters above sea level) and Tumbaya, which are situated on the banks of the Río Grande.

The first stop on the tour is at the Purmamarca train station, at approximately 9:40 am, where passengers will check in to board the Quebrada Solar Train. Passengers will travel through part of the Humahuaca Gorge until reaching the Maimara train station, where the driver and vehicle will be waiting to return them to Purmamarca.

From here, we'll begin our ascent up the majestic Lipán Slope, whose highest point reaches 4,170 meters above sea level, to arrive at the Salinas Grandes salt flats, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Argentina. Here, passengers will have free time to explore this stunning salt flat and the famous salt pans (where the salt extraction process takes place).

Having completed our visit to the Salinas Grandes salt flats, we will return along Route 52 to the town of Purmamarca. In Purmamarca, passengers will have free time (between 45 minutes and 1 hour) for lunch. After lunch, we will begin our return journey to the city of Salta, where the service will conclude at approximately 8:00 PM.
