Day 1: Journey to Khinalug Village
Begin your journey with a private transfer from central Baku, featuring a scenic drive through northern Azerbaijan with planned photo stops offering panoramic views of the Greater Caucasus.
Upon arrival, be welcomed into a selected village home for a traditional Azerbaijani lunch. Prepared using regional methods preserved for generations, the meal introduces the essence of mountain hospitality shaped by isolation, resilience, and cultural continuity.
After lunch, embark on a guided walking tour of Khinalug. Led by a knowledgeable local guide, the exploration highlights the village’s stone architecture, unique social structure, and ancient language spoken nowhere else in the world.
Enjoy time for independent discovery, allowing you to observe daily life, interact with residents, and experience a way of living largely untouched by modern pace. Surrounded by dramatic mountain landscapes and often positioned above the cloud line, Khinalug offers one of the most striking environments in Azerbaijan.
The day concludes with an overnight stay in a handpicked village house that balances comfort with authenticity, offering a rare opportunity to disconnect and embrace the calm rhythm of high-altitude life.
Day 2: Cultural and Natural Highlights of Guba - Return to Baku
Following breakfast in Khinalug, transition from mountain solitude to the diverse landscapes of Guba. The first stop is Qechresh Forest, known for its tall beech trees and shaded paths offering a striking contrast to Khinalug’s rocky terrain.
Continue to the Gedim Guba Carpet Weaving Center where traditional carpet-making techniques are preserved by local artisans. Gain insight into craftsmanship, symbolism, and materials that define this renowned art form, with access to authentic handmade pieces at the on-site boutique.
Next, visit the Guba Bazaar, a working local market showcasing seasonal produce and everyday goods providing an unfiltered view of regional life. Lunch follows at a local restaurant specializing in regional cuisine made from locally sourced ingredients.
In the afternoon, visit Red Village, home to one of the world’s largest Mountain Jewish communities. The Grand Synagogue and Museum of Mountain Jews reveal centuries of preserved identity, migration history, and religious heritage unique to the Caucasus.
The final stop is Chanlibel Lake, a peaceful natural setting surrounded by forested hills, offering a quiet conclusion before returning to the capital. After a full cultural and nature-focused program, be transferred back to Baku and dropped off at the original location.
