Discover the fascinating history, culture, and natural wonders of Azerbaijan on this full-day tour from Baku to Gobustan and the Absheron Peninsula.
The journey begins with a visit to the historic Bibi-Heybat Mosque, one of the most important religious landmarks in Azerbaijan and a beautiful example of Islamic architecture.
Afterwards, we continue to the Gobustan region, home to one of the world’s most unique landscapes and ancient archaeological sites. Here you will visit the famous Gobustan National Park Open-Air Museum, where thousands of prehistoric rock carvings (petroglyphs) reveal the lifestyle and culture of ancient civilizations that lived in this area thousands of years ago.
The tour also includes a visit to the extraordinary Mud Volcanoes area. Due to the natural terrain and road conditions, buses cannot reach the volcanoes directly. Therefore, guests will experience a short 4x4 safari adventure using vintage off-road vehicles such as Lada Niva, Zhiguli, and Zaporozhets. This off-road safari is available for an additional fee. However, guests who select the “Entrance Fees Included” option will have the Mud Volcano safari vehicles included in their package.
After exploring Gobustan, we return to Baku and make a scenic stop at the National Flag Square, one of the largest flag squares in the world and a perfect location for photos.
Next, guests will enjoy a traditional Azerbaijani lunch featuring authentic dishes from the local cuisine. Vegan menu options are also available. The lunch is fully included in the tour price and available for all options and language selections.
The tour continues to the Absheron Peninsula with a visit to the famous Ateshgah Fire Temple, a historical religious site once used by Zoroastrians and Hindu pilgrims.
Afterwards, we visit the remarkable Yanardag (Burning Mountain), a natural gas fire that has been burning continuously for centuries and represents one of Azerbaijan’s most famous natural phenomena.
The final stop of the tour is the iconic Heydar Aliyev Center, one of the most famous architectural landmarks in Baku designed by the renowned architect Zaha Hadid. Guests will have time to explore the beautiful surroundings and take photos of this photogenic building. Please note that this stop is for photos only and entry to the museum is not included.
Guests who book the “Entrance Fees Included” option will also receive a complimentary Baku City Tour and Baku Night Tour as a special bonus experience. Hotel pickup and drop-off services are available depending on the selected option.
