Explore Bhutan’s valleys, monasteries, and mountain passes on a 10-day journey. Hike to Tiger’s Nest, stay in a farmhouse and homestay, and discover Bumthang, Haa, Paro, and Phobjikha.
Discover Bhutan through a 10-day journey that combines cultural landmarks, mountain scenery, and time in some of the country’s most distinctive valleys. Travel from the border town of Phuentsholing through Thimphu, Punakha, Trongsa, Bumthang, Phobjikha, Haa, and Paro, with a mix of monastery visits, scenic drives, local experiences, and a signature hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery. Along the way, stay in 3-star tourist standard hotels, with one farmhouse stay and one homestay experience that bring you closer to daily life in Bhutan.
Begin in Phuentsholing and drive into the hills toward Thimphu, passing through forested landscapes in Chukha. Continue your journey with visits to the Buddha Dordenma and the Royal Takin Preserve before crossing Dochula Pass on the way to Punakha. In Punakha, hike to Chimi Lhakhang, a temple known for its fertility blessings and unusual painted motifs. The route then leads to Trongsa, where you’ll explore Trongsa Dzong and Ta Dzong, home to a museum with Bhutanese art and historic treasures.
From Trongsa, travel to Bumthang Valley, where you’ll visit Jakar Dzong and Jambay Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples and a key site in the introduction of Buddhism to the region. A fuller day in Bumthang includes more temple visits, including Kurje Lhakhang. Continue to Phobjikha Valley, a glacial valley known for its peaceful setting and black-necked cranes, where you’ll visit a monastery, enjoy an easy downhill walk, and experience a traditional farmhouse. The journey then continues to Haa Valley via Chelela Pass, with time for a hot stone bath and a visit to Lhakhang Karpo.
Finish in Paro with one of Bhutan’s most memorable experiences, the hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery. The climb follows a mountain trail to the cliffside monastery associated with Guru Padmasambhava, offering a rewarding final highlight before departure from Paro. The tour ends in Paro on Day 10.
