Day 1-Fly from Kathmandu to Paro and transfer to Thimphu

We will drop off at Kathmandu Airport and fly to Paro. Arrival in Paro airport and 1 and half hour drive to Thimphu. Have lunch in vegetarian restaurant Neyphu Heritage with a scenic view of paddy fields. Continue to drive to Thimphu with a stop at Tachog lhakhang temple to see a traditional bridge built using ancient iron chains. Walk in Norzin lam street and see the traffic police signaling in junctions. Thimphu is the only capital in the world without the traffic lights. Visit popular local restaurants and cafés around Clocktower square and Norzin Lam street.

Day 2 Thimphu to Paro (130KM – Approximately 3 – 4 hrs drive)

Early morning drive to Thimphu and visit Buddha Dordenma, the gigantic statue of Buddha overlooking the valley and walk to a striking city viewpoint. See Memorial Chorten, always busy with devotees. Visit Khaja Throm vegetable market with eateries and cultural space.

Day 3: Haa to Paro (75 KM / 02 – 03 HRS DRIVE)

In the morning visit the main temple, Lhakhang Karpo (white temple) dedicated to local deity. Then drive to Chele-la (3850 m), the highest motorable pass in Bhutan. In clear weather, you might see Kanchenjunga mountain to the west and holy Jomolhari peak to the north. Hike from the pass through ancient forest to Kila Gompa, the oldest nunnery in Bhutan. Descend by car to Paro. If time permits, visit also Dzongdrakha lhakhang, the temple built below the rock cliffs with a great view of the rice fields of Bondey village. The beauty of this temple, rarely visited by travelers, is only matched by the Tiger's Nest. Evening stroll in Paro town, exploring its cafés, eateries and bars.


Day 4- Paro -Day excursion to Tiger's Nest

After breakfast, drive north of Paro and climb to Taktsang gomba (Tiger’s Nest)is the highlight of the tour. While the hike seems to be hard, it’s very rewarding. If you don’t feel so strong, you can climb just halfway to the cafeteria with a nice view of the place. You can consider climbing in the morning or early afternoon depending on weather, your fitness and preferences. The pristine Kyichu lhakhang is one of the two oldest temples built in BhutanLater Visit the Paro dzong (Rinpung dzong), the castle-monastery where Bernardo Bertolucci’s Little Buddha film was shot. Have a photo in traditional Bhutanese dress with the castle in the background.

Day 5: Departure
Early morning depart from Paro by flight.
