Description
Embark on a 4-day mountain biking and Uyuni Salt Flats tour from La Paz. Ride down the Death Road, visit the Uyuni Salt Flats, and see the Red Lagoon.
Explore the beautiful nature, history, and culture of La Paz on this exciting multi-day tour of some of the most famous and impressive sights. Start mountain biking early in the morning at 7:30. After packing your full-suspension bike and cycling gear (helmet, gloves, jacket, pants), you're ready to go.
Gain confidence and familiarize yourself with the bike on this 22 km downhill paved road. At the police checkpoint (after 45 min.) all visitors pay Bs. 50 for entry. Pedal with ease, as the security van always follows behind the group, and enjoy stops for water, photos, and bike checks.
Dive into the ride along the "Death Road" for about 10 km, always in a tight group and followed by a break for a snack. Start the final stretch of the day with a view of a beautiful waterfall and about 32 km before reaching Yolosa. Finally, relax in a hotel with showers, pool, and lunch.
Enjoy new stunning views around 16:00 as you head back to La Paz driving on a new road. Get dropped off at the Bus Office (La Paz to Uyuni). Take your bags with you as you will not be returning to your hotel. The bus leaves at 21:00.
Day Two - Arrival in Uyuni City at 7:30 am. Afterwards, you will have free time to visit the impressive city. Then start your excursion at 10:30 am where you will visit the Train Cemetery, Colchani (salt miners workshops next to the salt flat), crafts made with salt, and textile art made with llama and alpaca fiber.
Next, Ojos de Agua Salada, a museum hotel made entirely of salt, Banderas del Mundo, Monumento a Dakar, and Isla Incahuasi. Then, pose for some fun distorted perspective and proportion photos, taken against the backdrop of the striking white surface of the salt flat.
Head to a spacious area at the end of the day to live the unique experience of watching a beautiful sunset, spreading its dazzling colors across the entire salt flat, and finally, reach the town of Ajencha for dinner, where you will spend the night at the lodge.
Start at 7:00 am with a hearty breakfast, then visit Ollagüe, the rocky path "El Pasito Tuntun", the famous Cañapa, Hedionda, and Chiarcota Lagoons where you can see flamingos. Lastly, head into the "Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve" where you can see the Siloli Desert, the Rock Tree, and the immense Red Lagoon to see more pink flamingos in their natural habitat. Spend the night in a Huayllajara hostel.
Start early, around 5:00 a.m., to visit Sol de Mañana Geyser, a swim in the Polques Hot Springs, the Dali Desert, Laguna Verde, and Laguna Blanca at the foot of the Licancabur volcano. Then, return to the border between Bolivia and Chile (Hito Cajón), where your guide will help you cross the border at 10:30 am, and finally arrive in San Pedro de Atacama at 2:00 pm.
