Description

Paddle through the calm waters of Paraty Bay on a 2-day kayak expedition. Camp on a remote island, swim in the ocean, and see bioluminescent plankton light up the water on a clear night.
Begin your adventure at Paraty-Mirim Beach Pier, where your certified guide provides a thorough briefing covering paddling technique, equipment handling, and safety protocols. No prior kayaking experience is required — this expedition is specifically designed to be beginner-friendly while still delivering a genuine expedition atmosphere.

Cross the calm waters of the Saco do Fundão, passing Praia do Furado and Ilha das Almas. The marine life in this area is remarkably accessible: starfish are a near-certainty at the right tides, and with luck you may encounter rays gliding beneath your kayak, sea turtles surfacing nearby, schooling fish, and occasionally dolphins cutting through the channel.

Set up camp on Ilha da Cotia — a remote, isolated spot far from any artificial light. All camping equipment is provided, including tents and inflatable thermal sleeping mats. Your guide prepares a full dinner with fresh, quality ingredients. After dark, the experience deepens: on nights with no full moon and clear skies, the water can glow with bioluminescent plankton.

Slipping into the water and watching your movement spark with light is one of those rare moments that stays with you permanently. Above, the star field is extraordinary — the kind of sky you simply do not see near any town.

Start day 2 with a guide-prepared breakfast before paddling through Saco do Diogo and Saco da Preguiça — quiet inlets surrounded by thick forest where the only sounds are birds and your paddle strokes. The return to Paraty-Mirim completes approximately 20 km of total paddling across both days.
